Inspired by Joyce Kilmer's poem "Trees", this visualizer “PHOTOAUTOTROPHS” looks deeply at the mesmerizing cycles our oxygenating friends experience with an aesthetic soaking of texture and sound. Accompanied with an original lofi score by Forest Kids Collective that features a voice sample of prolific artist, activist and athlete Paul Robeson. Weaving textures and ideas born from diverse sources over a century, “PHOTOAUTOTROPHS” looks for truth contained in the couriers of breath.
Paul Robeson was an actor, civil rights activist, lawyer, author, linguist, athlete, scholar, and singer. He was active from 1925 until being silenced by McCarthyisim in the 1960s. Sadly, his incredible legacy was suppressed, leaving his cultural importance relatively unknown.
